Cultural Effects of New Inventions
Human history narrates us that man was mentally maturing he had invented things, according to his needs and environment, new inventions unveiled with the passage of time and this process continues. Every important invention brings a change in with itself. Man has turned a new leaf of his life when has replaced iron with stone and started animals for riding purposes.
Another change came when he has initiated to grow plants other than self‐seeders. In the same manner, man’s progress has gained momentum that was the charisma of wheel. With the creation of radio and telephone, a very vivid and tachy speed change came in human society. On account of such devices the contacts between two places or countries became convenient. Distances tend to contract and in this way man has entered in global circle from local sphere. But the aesthetic disposition and studious nature of man remain un altered, in changing culture due to modernity.
Some aspects of apparent change affect the life style, accent and attire of man. Many excogitations of man are same because of his nature but few commodities were designed which have bonded the whole humanity. Due to these inventions, such culture flourished which has brought man closer to one another. A relevant case in point is internet. The origination of mobile phone has also deep rooted effects on our lives.
All these inventions, on one hand fulfill our life’s requirements; on the other hand, we should also consider their life‐ threatening and detrimental consequences. Here a valid question about the usage of things arises; it means that the practice of an activity makes the status of that thing negative or positive entity. For example, a thing which was used as a medicine, when it started to use as narcosis it will affect negatively and became appalling for man. In the same manner, the equipments which were made by man for his defence measure, started to use for aggression. On the large scale, materials for man’s destruction were ready. As a result, the stronger nations have started to grasp the resources of other countries by engendering fear on international level.
Coincidently, many inventions which are inventing in society execute their confirming and disconfirming effects. For example, a medication is intended to fade away the blemishes of face and at the same time various sorts of cream and powders invade the market.
If at one place, lipstick is being selling and at another place everything is ready to instigate the sentiments. We don’t deny that few inventions have produced very strange complexity. Now am an talks to another by his mobile phone whenever he wants. He doesn’t feels that other person is taking rest; he may be in washroom or busy somewhere. Then people complained that you didn’t attend my call, I had called you. Human life is suffering from many problems on account of various inventions. We are heading towards an era of inventions and innovation swith great speed but lacking that level of discretion. We are converting in to a “consumer society” by great conspiracy. We are selling everything, we are purchasing everything. We are in need to ponder over the effects of these things. We should not observe the noticeable benefits of inventions; we should also comprehend the aims behind them. For this, it is necessary that in our educational system there should be sense of “scientific development”, besides it we should also needs the brains who can think about nation and who can make educational system. We have to generate philosophers, we need sociologist. We have to makethe think tanks to face the different challenges.
We are lacking the productivity process. We are utilizing the talents of our youth for selling and purchasing. We are providing them such education which make them capable person who can do good marketing and become sellers of good merchandise. Such sort of situation can’t be stated as satisfactory.
What is its solution? Its solution is collective nation discretion. We should know that Quaid‐e‐Pakistan Muhammad Ali Jinnah was basically a social scientist. This should be in our knowledge that the people who gave the idea of this country like Allama Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed Khan and Maulan Altaf Hussain Hali; who prepared a race and a nation, who’s efforts had developed people mentally; were all social scientist. We should know that according to religion our prophets and mentors were social scientists and man‐conscious people. They were the people who explored the treasure of minds. Hazrat Ali (R.A) quotes that prophets came to unveil the trove of mind of people and treasure of nature. On account of this, it can be said that the founders of social revolution in world and to grant the evolution of man’s discretion, were prophets. Today our universities lack these subjects, consequently we become consumer society.
By serving the effects of new invention on the cultural prudence of our young folk, many positive factors reveal themselves. For example, through internet our youth is talking in Australia, and chatting in America. These invention and facilities in fact made us global citizens. These facilities make us free of terrestrial parameters. This materialistic development therefore, causes man to go towards manlike activities from the restricted sphere of nation and boundaries. As far as, there negative impacts are concerned, these are also hazardous. If we consider these precarious effects we can escape them, otherwise we should be prepared for suffering from such bane, from which west is inflicting from. Our youth should learn that those nations who ignored the spiritual aspects of man and nature, their morality deteriorate. They, the avanious nations, went for exploitation for other nations to meet their materialistic desires. The merchant‐like conscience of west has developed the way of making “consumers society” to other nations. Its aftermath will not be agreeable. For west, itself, it results will be discouraging.
To follow the west blind folded, to accept the invention and before using them we should specify the human and national targets. We should use those devices according to those objectives. The culture which is producing by the abrupt usage and weedily use of invention, it can’t be termed as development loving and the lofty aims comprehensive human culture of free nations.
